Third rhino killed on EC game reserve

The carcass of an adult rhino cow was found on Pumba Private Game Reserve during a morning patrol today (22/03/14). The carcass was found only hours after the two calves were found killed and their horns removed.
Police have confirmed that the adult - believed to be about 14 years of age - was also darted. "The horns of the third rhino have not been removed leading us to suspect that the poachers were disturbed," spokesman Brigadier Marinda Mills said.
The Green Scorpions, various anti poaching units and the police's Hawks unit are on the scene.
A helicopter has been deployed to scout the reserve and neighbouring farms. - Gareth Wilson.
