Sadtu leaders deny fees protest plan

SADTU national leadership visiting the Eastern Cape this week dismissed reports that its members in the province will withhold membership fees in protest against the suspension of the union's president, Thobile Ntola.

Sadtu's national executive committee (NEC) met provincial leaders and members during one of its regular visits to track union activities in the province, including salary negotiations for next year and the 0.5% pay parity issue.

Also taking centre stage was Ntola's suspension after he gave suspended Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi a platform to speak at a provincial conference last year.

Sadtu secretary-general Mugwena Maluleke said Ntola's suspension remained in force. - Zandile Mbabela
