Livingstone casualty patients' long wait

THE Livingstone Hospital board has vowed to address long waiting periods at the Port Elizabeth hospital's casualty unit, where people have had to wait up to two days before being attended to.

Board chairman Sheikh Nceba Salamntu said yesterday a public meeting was held on Sunday to hear patients' grievances.

"The biggest problem at Livingstone Hospital was the long waiting periods at the casualty unit. It is clear to us that there are staff issues that must be addressed at the casualty unit," Salamntu said. - Estelle Ellis
