Trollip hammers ANC corruption

EASTERN Cape DA leader and premier candidate Athol Trollip yesterday used his party's provincial election campaign launch in Mdantsane to ridicule the ruling ANC for what he called its lack of interest in fighting corruption.

Speaking mostly in Xhosa, Trollip told the 2500-strong crowd that the ANC's candidates list to parliament after the May 7 general election showed the ruling party was not interested in fighting corruption.

He said the list contained names of "many rogue elements who have a corruption cloud still hanging over them".

Addressing supporters at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium, Trollip mentioned various ANC candidates who had faced corruption charges, but singled out disgraced former communications minister Dina Pule and President Jacob Zuma - Asanda Nini
