Roles of teachers, schools stressed

TEACHERS and university lecturers need to work together to ensure pupils are properly equipped for learning if education is to be an absolute success.

This was the message at an SA Principals' Association provincial conference attended by more than 100 principals from around the Eastern Cape at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University's conference centre on Friday.

Guided by the theme "The Future is Now", speakers highlighted issues facing education, including pupils battling through their academic life due to gaps not addressed at an earlier stage.

Speakers representing pre-primary, primary, high school and university education said teachers at all levels had to ensure they prepared pupils for the next phase of their education. -
