Former Bay prefect loses court appeal

A FORMER prefect from an exclusive Port Elizabeth private school has lost a high court bid to be reinstated after he was stripped of his prefect's badge and tie for posting on social media platform Twitter about a drinking spree.

Oluwatobi David Olowookorun, who matriculated from Theodor Herzl High School last year and is now a first-year medical student at the University of the Witwatersrand, approached the Port Elizabeth High Court for a review of the school's decision to revoke his prefect privileges in July last year after months of talks with the school and a failed subsequent appeal.

His prefect's badge and tie were removed after the school discovered he had tweeted about a night of drinking between himself and a fellow pupil. -
