One dead, two wounded in gang violence

A MAN was killed and two others wounded in three separate gang-related shootings in Port Elizabeth's northern areas within 24 hours.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the first shooting happened at about 7.30pm on Tuesday when two men left a shop in Bosch Avenue, Bethelsdorp.

Two gunmen fired several shots and a 21-year-old was wounded in the shoulder and back while his friend managed to escape unharmed.

Hours later, 23-year-old Elgin Hoster was found bleeding on the pavement in Esterhuysen Road, Bethelsdorp.

He was taken to Livingstone Hospital but died from a gunshot wound to the head. Then, at 7am yesterday, a suspected 33-year-old gang member was shot and wounded in the back outside his Mildred Street, Gelvandale house. - Gareth Wilson
