Outcry at plan for fireworks display

THE opening ceremony of Port Elizabeth’s brand new bingo hall could turn out to be a quiet affair if animal rights groups have their way.

The new Galaxy Grill and Galaxy Bingo in the Moffett on Main shopping centre plan to celebrate the opening of their new stores with a fireworks display on Thursday evening, but many people have complained following the notice of this display in The Herald yesterday.

AWS spokeswoman Marizanne Ferreira said they had received countless calls and messages about animals hurting themselves or going missing every time there was a fireworks display in Port Elizabeth.

“People who want to celebrate with fireworks should realise there are very serious consequences for their actions.
