THE opening ceremony of Port Elizabeth’s brand new bingo hall could turn out to be a quiet affair if animal rights groups have their way.

The new Galaxy Grill and Galaxy Bingo in the Moffett on Main shopping centre plan to celebrate the opening of their new stores with a fireworks display on Thursday evening, but many people have complained following the notice of this display in The Herald yesterday.

This includes the Animal Welfare Society (AWS) and the Echo Foundation retirement villages. – Riaan Marais

hallo! this is a built up area and the municipality should never have given permission for the fireworks. i agree it should not take place. the poor animals will go balistic with the noise. we can block our ears but the animals can not. they can think of another way to open with a “bang” Dallas
