EASTERN Cape education authorities will this week point out which schools the province’s surplus teachers should move to in a bid to lessen the often crippling vacancies that plague many schools.
This is one of the first steps in the redeployment process that has for years been a bone of contention between unions and the department.
Last week the province’s 23 education districts compiled lists of which teachers were in addition to the number needed at schools and what posts they were eligible to fill. The full lists are to reach the provincial offices today for the start of the process of slotting them into relevant spaces.
The Port Elizabeth district office was on Friday finalising its lists to send to head office. – Zandile Mbabela
