Bhisho blamed for slow housing delivery in Bethelsdorp

NELSON Mandela Bay ward councillors lambasted the Mzingisi Development Trust and the Eastern Cape Department of Human Settlements yesterday, blaming the two for the slow pace of housing delivery in Bethelsdorp North.
Councillors complained that they had to face the wrath of impatient residents every day who demanded to know when the municipality would start building RDP houses as promised.
This emerged after the trust reported to the human settlements portfolio committee yesterday that services had not yet been installed in the area earmarked for housing development because it was waiting for Bhisho to approve its application for a budget of R68-million to be able to put in the civil infrastructure. - Rochelle de Kock
