Skills flight from East Cape 'not a disaster'

WHILE concerning, a brain drain in the Eastern Cape is not a crisis.

Instead, it was an opportunity for the province to flaunt itself as the biggest exporter of skills and leadership to the rest of the country, premier Noxolo Kiviet said yesterday.

Speaking at a business breakfast in East London, Kiviet said it was inevitable that people who learnt skills in the Eastern Cape would leave the province to work for major corporates which had headquarters in Gauteng and the Western Cape.
