RHODES University vice-chancellor Dr Saleem Badat will step down later this year after eight years at the university’s helm. Badat is resigning from the university to take up a post at another institution, but would not say when he would leave Rhodes or which institution he would be joining.

“The precise date of my departure will be announced in due course, following discussion with the University Council,” he said.

“As to the institution I will join later this year, an announcement in this regard will be made by that institution very shortly.”
