Xego plans to sue over drug fiasco

THE Nelson Mandela Bay company that had its medicine supplement shelved last week is planning to sue the Health Department for "stringing it along" and dropping its product at the last minute.

Immutrition Pty Ltd said it would be suing the department for the costs of importing Immutides Spray after getting its approval. It would also sue for the R1.4-million stock it had bought.

This comes as the Health Department starts its probe into why district health manager Dr Luleka Mayekiso authorised its use on patients at New Brighton's Empilweni, Uitenhage's Orsmond, and Bethelsdorp's Jose Pearson TB hospitals.
