Investigation riddled with police blunders

DESPITE being one of the most high-profile cases handled by South African police recently, the investigation into Reeva Steenkamp's tragic death has been riddled with police blunders.

During Oscar Pistorius's bail application, the lead investigating officer into Steenkamp's murder, Warrant Officer Hilton Botha, admitted he missed forensic evidence, including a fourth bullet lodged in the toilet.

Advocate Barry Roux also attacked Botha for contaminating the crime scene by not wearing shoe covers.
