Woman fails to appear for mitigation hearing

A WARRANT of arrest was issued yesterday for a woman who stole R1.4-million from a Grahamstown vet in order to fund her lavish lifestyle.

Louise Bowker, in her 30s, failed to appear in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court yesterday, where further evidence was to be heard in mitigation of sentence.

Magistrate Hannes Claassen ordered the warrant be held over until her next court appearance in April.

Bowker pleaded guilty to the theft in June last year.
