Vavi hits back at Cosatu

SUSPENDED Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi came out guns blazing last night, saying the federation had been weakened by his detractors who wanted to be deployed to parliament after the general election instead of fighting for workers.

Vavi was addressing a packed Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, in his personal capacity during a Numsa regional general meeting.

He said those who wanted to see the back of him had tried to suspend him last year for allegedly benefiting from the sale of the old Cosatu House, but had failed.
