IT was quiet in Wilger Street, Hankey, yesterday after the death of “a son to the whole street” who had been stabbed 27 times.
The body of Maxwell Plaatjies, 13, was found in a nearby irrigation canal. The police late yesterday afternoon arrested a man, 19, in connection with the murder after he handed himself over.
“Our street is not usually this quiet. On any other day you would hear children laughing and playing outside our house. But not today.
“Today we are sad because my son was killed,” Maxwell’s mother, Sylvia Plaatjies, 39, said inside her house.
