Bay police spokesman hurt in crash

PORT Elizabeth police spokesman Captain Stanley Jarvis was injured during an accident at the Upper Dickens Street and Park Lane intersection in Central yesterday afternoon.

Jarvis, who was working at the cricket test between Australia and South Africa at St George's Park, was on a motorcycle in Park Lane when a woman driving a BMW crashed into him.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Jarvis had a broken leg and sustained head injuries, including concussion.

He was taken to St George's Hospital.

Janse van Rensburg said the 42-year-old BMW driver had stopped to help. A case of reckless and negligent driving is being investigated. – Herald Reporter
