Chippa gets tough with city officials

NELSON Mandela Bay deputy mayor Chippa Ngcolomba lashed out at senior municipal staff yesterday, saying they were happy to get "lots of money" every month while they hampered progress in the municipality.

He said officials had failed to come forward with solid plans to secure funding from national government for much-needed service delivery projects in the city.

Speaking at a joint budget and treasury committee meeting yesterday, Ngcolomba said: "We need to ask ourselves, are we really serious about taking this metro to another level? We must name and shame the officials who are pulling this metro down.
