Bhisho splurges for Kiviet's speech

TOMORROW'S state of the province address will be held in lavish marquees costing more than R1-million despite the provincial legislature having spent almost R14-million upgrading the interior of the Bhisho Legislature chamber last year.
This was the second multimillion-rand upgrade to the legislature following a facelift three years ago. According to two independent sources, the function will cost the government more than R3-million in total. Last year, the legislature spent more than R2.9-million on this event.
The catering and entertainment did not go to tender. Instead three quotes were requested.
