Cuban doctors get warm welcome

TWENTY-FOUR Cuban doctors are to serve a three-year contract in the Eastern Cape.

The majority of them will be deployed at rural health facilities.

Welcoming the doctors on Saturday evening at the Osner Hotel in East London, Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana said it was a celebration of the relationship between Cuba and South Africa.

Cuban National Coordinator in South Africa Dr Alex Carreras said the doctors would serve the country "with passion and dedication" during their stay.
