ON the eve of the first anniversary of his daughter's death, Barry Steenkamp, father of beautiful, blonde model Reeva shot by her lover, paralympian Oscar Pistorius, says he will be glad when the murder trial is over.

Speaking to The Herald close to his Greenbushes home in Port Elizabeth, Steenkamp said he did not expect the trial, due to start on March 3, to be long and drawn out. "We will be glad when this is all over ... we really do hope that all of this is over quite quickly."

And while Steenkamp, and his wife June, remember their golden girl today, they also have to deal with the backlash of former friends and neighbours who have accused them of cashing in on their daughter's death.
