Fed-up U’hage residents form body to restore order

Tremaine van Aardt

UITENHAGE residents fed up with protests in the town’s western areas have formed an organisation they hope will restore peace and order.

Parts of Uitenhage have been no-go areas in recent weeks as residents have protested against the slow pace of housing delivery in the area.

Police were on standby last night, with helicopters sent in to monitor the area.

But now some residents have had enough of the ongoing violence and about 500 attended the first meeting of Concerned Uitenhage Residents (Cure) held at the Rosedale Indoor Centre on Tuesday.
