DA's publicity stunt worked, says analyst

Penwell Dlamini and Lehlohonolo Tau THE ANC fell for a gpolitical stunth by using bricks and petrol bombs to repel a DA pre-election march in central Johannesburg yesterday, commentators say.

Police formed a human barrier between supporters of the rival parties and arrested four people for public violence. They fired stun grenades to disperse ANC supporters who pelted them with stones and petrol bombs.

The DA’s plan to march within one block of the ANC’s headquarters, Luthuli House, was foiled as 8 000 marchers were U-turned by police to prevent a direct clash with about 15 000 ANC supporters.
