PE court packed for Seaview case

THE Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court was packed yesterday as three alleged members of the Upstand Dogs gang appeared on charges ranging from housebreaking to murder.

Tensions are high following Saturday night's shooting at theHumewood beachfront in which three men, also alleged members of the Upstand Dogs, were killed.

Making a brief appearance in court were Rodwell "Boef" Peters, 30, Oscar Alexander, 30, and Cedric Johnson, 24. They were arrested in June last year after they allegedly ransacked a Seaview home after tying up the owner.

Their alleged accomplice, Allen de Souza, 28, died in a shootout with security guards, who responded when the homeowner pressed a silent panic button. Peters, Johnson and Alexander are charged with his murder.
