Drop the bricks, ANC tells supporters

The ANC had asked its members to refrain from carrying bricks, its spokesman said on Wednesday (12/02/2014). "This is not a brick-throwing event," African National Congress spokesman Jackson Mthembu told SAfm. A Democratic Alliance march for "real jobs" was halted in central Johannesburg on Wednesday after ANC supporters dressed in party t-shirts stormed the march and hurled bricks at DA members. Mthembu said the ANC members who had gathered in town was merely trying to protect the ruling party's headquarters. "Not anyone has suffered a brick to the head," said Mthembu.
