Ruins to rock on old year

ORGANISERS of the popular The Ruins New Year’s party in St Francis Bay are committed to bringing 2011 to a smashing close this year. The event did not take place last year after the sponsors and the organisers pulled out because the Kouga Municipality controversially also gave permission to a rival organisation to host a similar event right next to them.
The organisers have now indicated they have been given provisional approval but are still waiting for a final decision by council.
The organisers have invited local artists to submit proposals to play as the opening act.
They believe this year’s event could secure in excess of R1-million direct investment and national marketing exposure for St Francis Bay and the surrounding area.

Blue chip sponsors SAB Miller and Police Sunglasses are going to combine to ensure a successful event.
Previous concerts have attracted more than 10000 revellers, determined to greet the New Year in style.

The event has been staged in St Francis since 2001 and in the past has attracted international artists such as Amy-Lee of Evanescence and Sean Morgan of Seether. The bash will be open to all ages and it will once again be located next to the fire station in the centre of St Francis Bay.
The organisers expect some of South Africa’s finest and freshest artists will perform this year and they have already confirmed an impressive array of top South African bands to perform as well as prominent 5fm DJs.

In addition, they are looking for Eastern Cape bands to perform at the opening of the event.
Interested applicants are encouraged to get in touch with Catherine Thornton () before November 15.
Tickets to the event can be purchased through Computicket from December 1.
Golden Circle ticket holders will receive a R500 Police Sunglasses voucher valid against the purchase of any pair of Police Sunglasses as well as a Police lanyard and a free GQ/Glamour magazine.
