Problems with roads

KOUGA executive mayor Booi Koerat said the community was not aware that the maintenance of some roads in Jeffreys Bay was the responsibility of the province.

Koerat commented on the roads issue during his opening statement at the recent council meeting.

The poor state of the roads in Jeffreys Bay has for years, been a hot topic and the cause of grave concern for residents.

The Kouga municipality receives constant complaints and criticism about the pothole-ridden streets.

"The community is not aware that some of the roads, like Da Gama Road, belong to the province.

"When I discuss the issue with them, they say they do not have a big enough budget to assist us,” said Koerat.
