JEFFREYS BAY has a brand new espresso bar which opened its doors at 10 Da Gama on Monday.
Managed by the barista king and queen of the Eastern Cape, Percy Chikwira and Belinda Ruiters, Infood Coffee Society plans to serve a wide variety of coffee beans, roasted to perfection.
Empowering her staff by encouraging Chikwira and Ruiters to manage the bar on their own, Infood owner Jayne Davies said she had faith in their ability as they had proved themselves recognised coffee fundis.
“Their passion has inspired me to invest in them and help them grow each year,” said Davies.
“I will be equipping them with entrepreneurial skills and business acumen, and will mentor them in all areas.”
The coffee bar will also stock an exciting new range of teas, said Davies.
Chikwira won first prize for coffee-making in the Eastern Cape last year, and this year decided to take part in the judging side of the coffee baristas in the provincial trials. Davies and Chikwira will be “sensory judges” at the Homemakers Scasa Coffee competition from July 26-28 in Port Elizabeth.
“At Infood Coffee Society we will share our knowledge with any coffee lover who is thirsty to know a little more than the average drinker,” Davies said.
They will also be offering classes for beginners.
Also on offer will be the tasting of new harvests that have been roasted to perfection. “We will gladly grind your blend from the choice of our many different beans that we are going to stock,” she said. They will also stock machines and accessories.
