THOSE attending the Christian Men’s Association (CMA) breakfast on Saturday heard several testimonies regarding the Karoo Might Men Conference taking place from April 26 to 28.

The conference takes place in Middleburg in the Eastern Cape and there are no registration fees this year. Faith like Potatoes author Angus Buchan will be just one of the speakers at the three-day event.

Jason Currie said he had been to the Mighty Men Conference in Greytown which was attended by 60 000 people that year.

"God uses it to impact men’s lives,” he said.

He said it was a good opportunity for men to get away from the distractions of daily life, open up to each other and talk about their personal struggles.

Dr Leon Nel said he had not wanted to go as he had a lot going on at the time. A general practitioner from Middleburg called him and asked if he could help out at the conference on the medical side.

"We all need to get away. The devil is clever in keeping us busy,” he said.

Jonathan Basden said he had seen the movie Faith like Potatoes and had heard about the conference but was not going to go. However his friend asked him if he would take his place. Basden said explained how even the venue is special, surrounded by mountains in the Karoo.

Welcome Fani said he has been to the Karoo Mighty Men Conference and even though the preaching was in Afrikaans, he realised "the Holy Spirit can teach you another language”. This is something he had never experienced before.

This year there will be a translation service during the conference which will be delivered via FM signal.

Charlie Parsons said there will be a rugby clinic at the conference as well.

Those who are interested in attending are encouraged to visit and register.
