DESCRIBING herself as friendly and loving, Bongiwe Magquntulu is keen on becoming the next Round Table/Talk of the Town Miss Port Alfred.

The 17-year-old was born in Grahamstown and raised in Port Alfred.

Bongiwe did her primary school education at Port Alfred Primary and she is now in Grade 10 at Port Alfred High School.

In her spare time, Bongiwe told TotT that she likes "chilling” with her family and friends.

At school she plays netball and because of her ability to dedicate herself to what she does, she won an award for being the best player of the year, last year.

"I am a friendly and loving person,” said Bongiwe.

"I like meeting new people and am able to communicate well with others,” she added

One of her strongest desires when she finishes high school is furthering her studies and she wants to do journalism.

"I am generally interested in things that are happening around me and I would make a great journalist,” said Bongiwe.

She said entering Miss Port Alfred will provide great exposure for her as she has aspirations to become Miss South Africa.

"This is a good way for me to start and my ultimate goal is to enter Miss South Africa,” she said.

"I want to use this as a platform to build confidence.

"Most people think that beauty pageants are for slender girls but they should rather require one to be confident because pageants no longer focus on physical appearance,” Bongiwe added.
