Khanya, who was born and raised in Port Alfred, is currently in Grade 12 at Port Alfred High School and has a passion for helping others in the community.

She said, after completing her grade 12, she would pursue studies in the nursing field.

"I want to become a nurse because I love helping others and also there is a great need for nursing in our country,” said Khanya.

Apart from having participated in a fashion show which included Miss Port Alfred entrants last year, she said had never entered any modeling competition.

"I'm trying something new, building confidence because some people do not have the confidence to enter such competitions,” she told TotT.

Her down-to-earth personality is the driving force that allows her to be an approachable person and adding to that would be her ability to communicate well with others.

"I am hoping to change the youth because many of us do not have anything positive to do with our lives due to the restrictions in our communities,” said Khanya.

She said the lack of extra-mural activities in some schools can impact very negatively on the lives of the youth.

"Through Miss PA I will get the opportunity to reach out to those who are disadvantaged.”

She likes playing netball, attending church and watching movies.
