The tournament took place at the Ekuphumleni fields on Saturday despite intermittent rain which threatened to delay the matches. Ten schools from Ndlambe took part in this annual knockout competition which is greatly anticipated each year.

Besides a trophy for the winners, soccer kits containing bags, balls and T-shirts were also up for grabs.

The mood was very festive with music playing from speakers throughout the day and a large number of spectators turning up to support the event.

Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker travelled from Durban especially for the tournament and said the schools had played very well.

During the final match he said he would be interested to see who wins as it was a case of strength versus skill. He said he had been watching some of the players who showed themselves to be talented during the tournament.
