TWO Port Elizabeth pupils have been named as the Eastern Cape’s top matriculants. This has added more gloss to the city’s achievement as the top-performing district for matric results in the province.
Alexander Road High School’s Matthew Walker took the top spot while Collegiate Girls’ High pupil Joanna Taylor – a finalist in this year’s Herald Matric of the Year competition – took the second- highest honour.
Walker and Taylor both scored above 90% in all their subjects.
Danielle de Klerk of Clarendon Girls’ High School in East London was third. The announcement was made at a gala dinner in East London last night. All the top achievers in the various categories received R50000 in bursaries and trophies.
