A PORT Elizabeth pupil has defied the odds to become her school’s top achiever. Raised on her grandmother’s meagre pension, Khwezi Lomso Comprehensive pupil Nomalungisa Norawana rose above her trying circumstances to obtain five distinctions and her future looks bright.
The quietly confident Nomalungisa said although she had spent much of last month in tears, she had begun this month on a joyous note.
“One of my siblings suffered ill health and her condition plagued my conscience. I had many a sleepless night wondering what would happen to her.
“However, I persevered and I studied through to the early hours of the morning,” Nomalungisa said.
The petite 18-year-old Motherwell resident thanked God for her achievement and revealed she was the first member of her family to obtain distinctions in Grade 12.
