Park’s neighbours tidy up

A GROUP of Richmond Hill residents – fed up with neglected public spaces in the neighbourhood – have taken it upon themselves to make the area a bit more attractive, starting with overgrown grass.

The Vos brothers – Stephen, Kevin and David – braved the sweltering heat on Friday, armed with a lawnmower and trimmer. On Saturday, they were joined by 12 more residents, one of whom volunteered the use of his tractor.

“The Richmond Hill Residents’ Association has a Facebook page where we communicate with each other regarding issues concerning our area.

“This was one of them [issues] and we were joined by more residents on Saturday to give a helping hand. The park looked disgusting,” Stephen said. “Why must we live in squalor? I would encourage other communities to … tackle these issues.”
