'Boy killers' case delayed

A CASE involving three Port Elizabeth teenagers who were arrested after they allegedly beat a man to death last month was postponed at the juvenile court, Nerina House, yesterday.

The case was postponed to January 20 for further investigation. The boys cannot be identified because they are minors.

It is alleged the boys, aged 16 and 17, beat a 42-year-old man to death at his Providentia home during a heated argument early on October 5.

The boy is represented by lawyer Alwyn Griebenow. It is believed Framesby High School pupils had slept over at the man's house and that a fight took place at about 3am.

The boys have not been formally charged as the docket has been forwarded to the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

Griebenow said the NDPP would determine whether the boys would be formally charged.

They were released last month shortly after their arrest and are in the custody of their families. – Lee-Anne Butler
