Body washed up on Brighton Beach

POLICE are still trying to identify a body that washed ashore at Brighton Beach in Port Elizabeth yesterday.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said fingerprints would be used to assist in helping identify the man.

"We suspect the individual drowned but an autopsy has to be conducted to determine this. The body was found on the beach by a passer-by who alerted the police and emergency services," he said.

Gwavu said that by late yesterday no one had been reported missing in the area. – Gareth Wilson
