Pool reopens after repairs

THE Newton Park swimming pool reopens to the public today.
The municipality was proud that the pool was ready to again host the world, Nelson Mandela Bay municipal spokesman Mthubanzi Mniki said yesterday.
The swimming pool, which attracted national attention in April last year when the water turned green due to a burst pipe, disrupting the SA National Aquatic Championships, has been closed since July last year for refurbishment.
"The quest [by the municipality] to deliver a quality product led to a three-month delay in reopening the facility," Mniki said.
The reopening coincides with the Learn to Swim programme. – Herald Reporter
