Bay residents tap into leaks

WATER leaks in Nelson Mandela Bay are so bad that in some parts of the city residents have opted to use the free- flowing "rivers" of water from leaking taps and burst pipes for their daily needs.

Fed up with complaining about the flowing water from the ongoing leak in Auburn Street, Booysen Park, some residents have opted to put the clean water to good use.

"Look at this water. It's like a Booysen Park fountain," resident Audru Goezwar said.

"And this is clean water that is going to waste.

"People from around Booysen Park and the Veeplaas areas including myself use this water on a daily basis to water our gardens and to wash our cars.

"Sometimes I even see small children playing in the water on hot days. - Tremaine van Aardt and Thulani Gqirana
