Shame of our hungry 2.3 million disclosed

AT least 2.3 million people in the Eastern Cape go to bed hungry and do not know where their next meal will come from, with some having to feed their families on as little as R6 a day.

This is according to a shocking report that shows the province has the highest percentage of food-insecure households in South Africa.

While one in four people in South Africa go hungry, and half the population have been found to be at risk, the situation is even bleaker in the Eastern Cape, where 36.2% of residents battle hunger daily.
