Man dies under police bakkie - Ipid investigates

PORT Elizabeth police failed to arrest one of their own after a hit-and-run accident in which a man, 23, was killed when a police vehicle allegedly drove over him and dragged his body for about 20m.
The man – identified by police but not named as his next of kin have not been alerted – died on the scene.
The vehicle sped off after the body was dislodged from under the vehicle, according to witness reports.
The investigation has been taken over by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).
The accident took place at the intersection of Stofile and Zokwana streets, Kwazakhele, at about 5.30am on Sunday.
