Singer’s son killed in Bay crash

AFRIKAANS singing sensation Jacques de Coning and his family are struggling to come to terms with the death of his son, Basil, who was killed tragically at the weekend. According to a police report, Basil “Baz” de Coning, 24, was killed when the Ford Focus ST he was driving crashed into a tree outside St George’s Hospital in Park Drive, Port Elizabeth, shortly after 8pm on Friday.

Speaking on behalf of the family yesterday, Jacques’s brother and former Eastern Province rugby legend Basil de Coning, 43, said the family was devastated and struggling to come to terms with Baz’s death.
