Metro plan for young tourism ambassadors to be launched

IN a bid to curb crime and vandalism, as well as promote cleanliness at some of Nelson Mandela Bay's tourism hotspots, the municipality will launch a new tourism ambassador pilot project later this month.

This will see two young city representatives stationed at each of the major tourism hotspots, providing information about places to eat, visit and stay.

In the pilot phase, the ambassadors will be situated along Kings Beach, Hobie Beach, the Donkin Reserve, the Mendi multipurpose centre – which is under construction – and the Langa Memorial site.

At a later stage, other areas such as Fort Frederick in Central, the Red Location precinct, the Mlotheni and Sheya Kulati heritage sites, the Despatch chimney brickworks, Motherwell Freedom Park, Zwide cemetery and the Pebco Three memorial site, will have ambassadors manning the sites. - Rochelle de Kock
