THE already struggling Zwide clinic in Port Elizabeth was dealt a blow when vandals ransacked the facility at the weekend.

Staff arrived at the clinic yesterday morning to find it in a mess. Several items had been stolen.

Sister Nonzaliseko Gedze, a Public and Allied Workers' Union of South Africa (Pawusa) shop steward, said the suspects had broken in through the back door.

"They took a laptop, which was supplied by National Health Laboratory Services, and other electrical appliances. Waste cardboard was used to transport the stolen goods.

"In my office they wrote some scary stuff and swear words on the Implanon register," she said. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
