NPA sets up festival stall in G'town

THE National Prosecuting Authority is setting up a stall at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in a bid to bring information about the criminal justice system to the public.

The store will be based at The Village Green Fair from today until July 13.

Information about the services of the NPA, the sexual offences and community affairs units, asset forfeiture unit, Directorate of Special Operations and the Special Commercialised Crime Unit will be available.

Legal eagles will be on hand to answer any questions about interdicts and domestic violence issues.

NPA provincial spokesman Tsepo Ndwalaza said the NPA was proud to be one of the only government organisations to be at the festival, with the sole purpose of creating awareness.

"This is one of the ways we are ensuring we bring government closer to the people, and we bridge the information gap that is evident in some communities." Ndwalaza said the festival provided a great platform for the NPA to educate the public about its work. – Kathryn Kimberley
