Humewood robbery: man receives 12-year jail term

A MAN who broke into a Port Elizabeth tycoon's house and stole his R400000 diamond-encrusted watch has been sentenced to 12 years in prison – but the mystery of the missing Rolex remains unsolved.

Bilal Jaylani was yesterday convicted in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court of housebreaking with intent to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances and the attempted murder of Norman Kahn, 78.

Jaylani and another man, who has never been arrested, broke into Kahn's upmarket Humewood family home in October 2010. The armed men, dressed as security guards, gained entry through Kahn's garage door as he was about to drive his daughter, Lauren, to school on October 19 - Kathryn Kimberley
