PORT ELIZABETH's countdown to Mandela Day on legendary former president Nelson Mandela's birthday on July 18 begins today as posters representing Madiba's life are being put up at various art galleries in the city.

The 95 Mandela Poster Project Travelling Exhibition started last year when a group of South African designers decided to celebrate the life of Madiba – who died in December at the age of 95 – by collecting 95 exceptional posters from around the world to exhibit his life-long contribution to humanity.

Tonight at 6pm at the Athenaeum Theatre in Belmont Terrace, 95 Madiba posters by South African and international artists will be exhibited, reminding people of his message of ubuntu and giving to those in need. Entrance is free. - Alvené du Plessis
