EC pupils secure St Andrews College scholarship

FIVE Eastern Cape pupils have secured themselves a spot at the prestigious St Andrews College School in Grahamstown for next year after being awarded the school's coveted scholarships.

The scholarships, which vary in value, will help with parts of the pupils' tuition throughout their high school career, with the biggest award being a full scholarship for the entire five years.

Also on the recipient list were pupils from schools in Kenya and Zimbabwe as well as other parts of the country, including Gauteng and the Western Cape.

Ryder Bawden from Selborne Primary School, in East London, was awarded the Blackburn Major, while Adelaide Primary head boy Ignus Potgieter got the Duthie State Scholarship.

Lunga Sizani from De Vos Malan Primary, in Kingwilliams Town, was awarded the Blackburn State scholarship, with Ben Kroon and Ryan Ford from St Andrew's Prep the recipients of the St Andrew's Prep Closed Blackburn scholarships.

From beyond South African shores. the deputy head boy of Kenya's Pembroke House School, Brayden Barratt, and Evan Rennie from Whitestone School in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, were also awarded scholarships.

Thomas Russell from Western Preparatory School, in Cape Town, received the Blackburn Closed Scholarship for WPPS.

The biggest winner was pupil Andrew Coxwell from The Ridge School, in Johannesburg, who was awarded the Boxer Scholarship after his application proved the most impressive out of 170 applicants.
